What is Revenue? Definition or Meaning

Posted by Bizversity

The revenue or earnings your business received over a period of time will be what you will be shown if your business could talk and materialise all the money you have made! Most of a business’s money is made through sales of products and services but can also include interest, fees and other royalties.

For example…

Rachel has had a bumper first year in operation. Her boutique clothes outlet has raked in higher than expected revenues over the first year owing to its prime location in the city, a free gift-wrapping service, word-of-mouth and reasonable prices that make customers keep wanting to come back for more. Further to this, Rachel had designed her own line of nightgowns that she has sold to other retailers, so her revenues will also include the royalties earnt by retailers selling her clothing line.
