Employee feedback should be task-focused, crystal clear, and to the point. Additionally, remember to give at least as much positive feedback as you do negative. For every weakness, discuss one of their strengths. Remember to never criticise publicly, make it a one-on-one meeting. Furthermore, don’t wait for a quarterly review. Instead, nip issues in the bud as they occur. Last but not least, remember to end the chat on a positive note. As they say “kiss, kick, kiss”, sandwich the negative between the good stuff.
